Saturday

We had a great week this week.  I've been doing a little organizing, but not as much as I would like.

Thursday was to be a no electronics day, but it ended up that one of our children had a really major melt down, so I decided to let him have video game time to let him veg out.

I have been doing a lot of thinking, and pondering and praying.

12th Day of Summer Vacation

I have been feeling like our house is a little disorganized the past few months.  I now have a list of all the things I would like to do to help it become less cluttered and more functional.  When I think of something new I add it right to the bottom of the list.  I am happy to have checked a few things off.  One item will lead to thoughts of other things that need to be done in order to be able to complete the first task.  Today I added a book shelf to our hall.  Now we have four there, and one in Steve's office.  Our hall feels so much better to walk through now.  The kids helped me organize books, and move things around.  My new "office" in the bedroom is coming right along.  Steve gave me his work computer, and is using a laptop for his new work computer.  I am so excited, because now I can play with my quilting software again.  I haven't been able to use it in well over a year.  Maybe even three years, now that I think about it.  On my to do list I have things like: rearrange the pantry, rearrange the spice cabinet, de-clutter the another cabinet, wash the shower.  All super fun tasks.

Amelia has been giving me some great smiles today.  She is such a well tempered baby.  I know I'm very blessed.

Sunday

Sunday morning was a little nutty.  It started out normal, and I was able to do a few things that I like to do on Sunday mornings.  I gave the boys hair cuts that they really needed and I always think they look so handsome afterwards.  When Steve left for his meetings, however, I decided to take a shower.  The kids had been playing so well but as soon as I was in my room they went crazy.  10 minutes later Alexis starts knocking on my door to tell me that she needs me to take Amelia so that she could clean up the quinoa mess that Burke and Amy made.  Quinoa was everywhere. Apparently quinoa is more fun than a sand box, and healthier too.  

I was asked to sub for the gospel doctrine teacher.  I have done a lot of teaching, but never gospel doctrine. In the 12 and a half years we've been married, I taught primary 8 and a half years, YW one year and relief society one and a half years.  I was a little intimidated, but it was actually fine.  After my lesson the other teacher told me that I did a good job.  I told him that I'm not nervous about speaking in front of people, I'm just worried about what is going to come out of my mouth.

Monday

Monday was the last day of Girl's Day Camp.  I was a little sad.  I love the girls who come, and I love serving Alexis.  I am so happy that we have had this experience the past three years.  I hope when Alexis is older she'll remember how much fun we had doing this.  I love her so much, and want her to be happy and have a great childhood.  Of course I want that for all of my children.

Last night we started a read aloud book.  I want to try to read a chapter each night to the kids.  The book we are reading is A Little Princess.  Tommy is really into it.  Alexis was half listening and half reading her own book.  The other kids went to bed during it.  We went to the library and I bought the book there along with a treasury of American poetry.  Each book was 50 cents.  Good deal.
