Christmas already seems like a long time ago. We had a great time together. Unfortunately Burke and Amelia were pretty sick. They had really bad colds with fevers for four days. Finally on Christmas night, the fevers broke and didn't come back. Christmas Eve was spent at a park with our friends instead of our home where it normally would have been. We didn't want to cancel, but we also didn't want to be responsible for anyone coming down with this bug. It was a little cool temperature wise, but the kids had fun playing and the company was great. The food was good, too. When we came home I had everyone take a bath, and put their pj's on. We read the story of Jesus' birth from the book of Luke, and had hot chocolate floats. Each child opened their gift from Steve's parents, and then we watched Home Alone. We were supposed to go to Steve's parents for dessert, but because of the sick kids we thought it best to stay away.
Christmas morning was nice. The kids woke-up at six, and went to wake us up. I was already on the couch with Amelia and Burke, (they were up all night coughing and had to have their fevers monitored). I was so excited to see the kids open their gifts. Steve was good about having all the kids put their trash into the bag right away so that we wouldn't lose any gifts, and so the mess wouldn't be horrible at the end of the morning. I'm pretty sure all the kids were very happy with their gifts. For breakfast the kids asked me to make coffee cake, and I served it with eggs, and mangoes and pineapple. Steve's mom sent over a ton of food for us too, since we couldn't go to the Christmas brunch. I stayed in my pj's all day, and the kids all played with their new toys. It was a little cool outside which added to the Christmas atmosphere. After breakfast, I put on my new movie "Emma" and put away all of the decorations. I was really not into the clutter this year. I've been feeling that the house is too small.
On Friday we were well enough to go to Steve's parents and visit his brother Ryan and his family who were all in town. It was so fun to see their new baby, Eleanor. Eleanor and Amelia are about three weeks apart, and it was so fun to see them together. The kids had fun playing with their cousin Henry. It was so nice to see them.
We are slowly getting well, and had a great week.
