I went to take the trash out, and noticed a few baby tomatoes growing on my Roma plant!  I am so happy.

What a fun day!  I am being completely sarcastic.

Steve woke up early to go running, and when he came home he changed quickly to go to the temple.  We decided I should stay home because Alexis had a fever of 101.1. He said I should just take it easy anyway. After Steve left I asked Alexis if she needed to go to Urgent Care.  She said yes, and so I called Steve' mom to see if I could drop the rest of the kids off with her so that I didn't have to have all the kids in the little Urgent Care office.  She said yes, so I drove them up to his mom's, and then back to the Urgent Care by our house.  It was closed.  The sign said that it was supposed to be open until 4:00, but this was not the first time this place has been closed when we've gone there.  I didn't know what to do.  Alexis really didn't feel well.  I drove home to call the pediatrician's office hoping that someone would be there.  (Yes, I know if I had a cell phone I could have saved myself some time.)  They said that their last appointment was at 11, and it was 10:50.  I told them that I could be there in 20 minutes, which I knew really wasn't possible.  I drove as fast as I could without really breaking the law, and we pulled up to the office at 11:20.  The whole time I was thinking that they wouldn't be there.  They were though, and we weren't even the last patient to arrive.  I was so relieved.  All of the hassle was worth it, because Alexis has Strep throat.  I knew she was really sick this morning when she wasn't acting any better after having Motrin.  Otherwise, I wouldn't have gone through all of the running around.  I drove back to Steve's mom's, picked up the kids, dropped Alexis and Burke off at home because Burke had fallen asleep.  Dropped of the order for Alexis' prescription, ran to Safeway to pick up some groceries, back over to CVS, and back home.  Steve came home 15  minutes later.  I told him what our day was like, and he said the he was glad that I was able to take it easy today.  I've come to realize that moms don't take it easy.  Our choice to be a mother demands a lot from us, and we can't always rest when we need or want too, because we are willing to give up sleep and relaxation to give our children everything they need.  Yes it catches up to us eventually, but usually with me it happens around 8:30 at night when I more often then not fall asleep on the couch.

For dinner tonight, I'm going to try to make the traditional St. Patrick's Day meal of corned beef with cabbage.  I've never made it before, but I like corned beef, and I want the kids to try something new.

I gave the boys their hair cuts...finally.

Spring Break Day 4

We went to the Desert Botanical this morning.  It was pretty fun.  We went to the native Indian village again, and then went to the butterfly pavilion.  They had 14 different types of butterflies.  It was so pretty there.

We came home and had a no TV day, so the kids played with their Legos and read books and played.  I like no TV days.  I think this summer we will have every Thursday be a no TV day.

We tried to go for a hike this evening, but by the time we arrived at the trail it was too dark to go very far.  We picked up some ice cream for the kids on the way home.  They liked that just as well as going on a hike.

I basted the baby quilt.  I can't wait to quilt it.  Maybe I can start that tomorrow.

Spring Break Day 3

For breakfast I made eggs and toast.  I was surprised to have a double yolk.  It was really neat.  I showed all the kids and they thought it was pretty cool.  Then two eggs later I had a second double yolk.  I have not had a double yolk before.  Anyway, it was neat.

We had a fun day today.  We did chores early so that we could go play with some friends.  The kids had a good time, and I always love talking with my friend.  I am so grateful to have her in my life.  Her baby is growing so fast and he is so cute.  Burke loves playing with babies.  I hope he loves our new Amelia.

Spring Break Day 2

Today was craft day.  We had fun making the t-shirt activity the we went to Hobby Lobby for.  I found the idea from the magazine Create With Me.

Spring Break Day 1

We had a pretty good day.  We didn't really have anything fun planned.  Alexis' hair is so long, so she needed a trim.  My friend Kim trimmed her hair, and then we took her over to talk to her future Yong Women leader.  Then we came home, and had lunch.  I took all the kids with me to Hobby Lobby. Michael didn't bring any shoes.  He and Burke rode in the cart.  Ribbon and patterns were on sale.  I bought some patterns for Girl's Day Camp, and lots of ribbon to make hooded baby towels.  I also bought each kid a t-shirt for our fun Spring Break craft.  After that we ran to Wal-Mart.  I picked up a towel and wash cloth to make a hooded baby towel for our soon to arrive niece.  Alexis has been wanting to make something for her, so I thought the hooded towel would be a nice and simple project for her to make.  We didn't start any of our projects, the house was too disorganized.  Steve and I went for a walk.  I was exhausted.

The boys need hair cuts.  I need an extra 10 hours in the day.

Sunday

Today started out great.  The kids were so good all morning, and even on the ride to church.  Burke fell asleep on the way to church, and woke up before the Sacrament was passed.  I took him into the foyer because he started to climb the pew and I didn't want him to hurt himself.  So he and I sat on the couch for a few minutes.  I let him down for a second and he took a step and tripped into the corner of a brick wall.  His head had an instant egg shaped bump and a little cut.  I rushed to the kitchen and made a little ice pack.  It was a horrible bump and he was crying uncontrollably  I had our friend Jake go into the chapel and send Steve out.  Steve and I decided that Burke and I should go home.  I put my ankle ice wrap around his head and gave him some Motrin.  He took a little nap, and woke up when the kids came home from church.  They all wanted to see him and make sure he was alright.  He is doing much better now, and the swelling is pretty much gone.
